When British author Jilly Cooper’s novel Riders was published by Arlington Press back in 1985, the cover featured a large and suntanned male hand nestled suggestively into a shapely female tush.
Cooper was shocked when the 30 year anniversary edition of Riders was published in May of this year, the cover had been cleaned up a little bit: the hand was smaller, paler and had been moved away from the center of action.
Now, however, the best-selling author has disclosed that she ordered it to be sent back for a re-print – featuring the male hand touching the female rider’s bottom once more.
Cooper, 78, bemoaned how political correctness had become ingrained in British life, leaving people too scared to make any personal comments whatsoever.
