Back in August, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle started doing somersaults in his grave at the news that his most beloved creation was going to be given a comedic treatment in a new Sony Pictures comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly that will be called Holmes & Watson. It has just been announced that the cast for the venture is now complete. From Deadline Hollywood:
Rob Brydon, Kelly Macdonald, and Rebecca Hall are set to star with Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in Holmes & Watson, the Sony Pictures comedy about the sleuthing duo. Last seen in The Huntsman 2, Cinderella and The Trip, Brydon will play Scotland Yard head Inspector Lestrade. Boardwalk Empire and No Country For Old Men star Macdonald will play Mrs. Hudson, the housekeeper of Holmes & Watson’s famous home at 221B Baker Street. The Scottish actress recently wrapped Simon Curtis’ Untitled film on A.A. Milne, opposite Dohmnall Gleeson and Margot Robbie for Fox Searchlight and she’s starring in the “Hated in the Nation” episode of Netflix”s Black Mirror second season.
Sadly, fans of the great detective will have to wait for a while. IMDB currently has the show noted with a 2018 debut.
